Two aspiring Cattaraugus community leaders will attend Leadership Cattaraugus this year with help from a newly established scholarship fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation (CRCF).
Leadership Cattaraugus established the scholarship fund at CRCF to make participation in the program more affordable for worthy attendees. After review from CRCF’s scholarship committee, Brittany Thierman and Danielle Michel each received $325 awards.
Thierman is the owner and director of Neighborhood School of Dance. She is also a member of the Rotary Club of Olean and volunteer at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels.
As director of Neighborhood School of Dance, Thierman has also encouraged and led her students in volunteering and community service at the Genesis House and Absolut Care, as well as participation in a number of community events.
Michel is the International Baccalaureate diploma programme coordinator at Archbishop Walsh Academy. She also is an enrollment task force member, new faculty mentor and prom advisor at Archbishop Walsh.
She is an active La Leche League member and organizer as well.
“We are thrilled to fund two Leadership Cattaraugus Scholarships this year, and we look forward to continuing this practice for years to come,” said Jodi Fuller, Leadership Cattaraugus board president.
“It is a privilege for the Foundation to support the development of future leaders who will guide the future of this community,” said CRCF Executive Director Karen Niemic Buchheit. “This fund aligns with the mission of both Leadership Cattaraugus and the Foundation, with the ultimate goal of supporting a stronger tomorrow for our community.”
The public is invited to support the scholarship fund. Donations can be made to the Leadership Cattaraugus Scholarship Fund at CRCF, 301 North Union St., Suite 203, or online at cattfoundation.org.
Established in 1994, the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation is growing good by connecting donors to the causes they care about most in the region.
