The 2017 Leadership Cattaraugus class visited several area manufacturers and heard from those on the front lines on the local manufacturing sector during its Manufacturing Day session.
The group gathered at Jamestown Community College’s Manufacturing Technology Building in Olean for a panel discussion on the state of local manufacturing. Speakers included Evelyn Sabina of Dream It. Do It., Keith Kranick of Jamestown Community College, Corey Witkor of the Cattaraugus County Industrial Development Agency, and Steve Dieteman of BOCES.
After an engaging discussion about efforts to support and grow local manufacturing, the group visited and toured Mazza Mechanical Services and Pierce Steel Fabricators, Inc., InTandem Solutions, Napoleon Engineering, and Total Piping Solutions.
Officials from each business talked about their efforts to effectively lead their respective companies, the challenges they face within the industry, and where they see local manufacturing going in the future.
Leadership Cattaraugus will next gather for Justice Day on Oct. 17.
