Leaders show the way, sometimes through challenges we never expected. Raise your leadership capacity by attending this year’s Southern Tier Leadership Summit at the Cattaraugus County Campus of Jamestown Community College in Olean on Thursday, August 1.
The full-day summit focuses on employee engagement and strategies for attracting and retaining top talent. The conference is hosted by Leadership Allegany, the Chautauqua Leadership Network, and Leadership Cattaraugus.
The keynote speaker will be James Stitt Sr., executive chairman of Cutco Corporation. Three additional speakers who are leaders in their respective organizations will share their expertise: Melissa Curran, manager of HR/office operations, Cimolai-Hy; Bob Forness, president and executive director of Olean Business Development Corporation; and Joe Pillittere Jr. of the Pillittere Group. All have led and continue to lead the movement toward more inspiring, fulfilling and productive workplaces.
“Whether you’re an executive, team leader, experienced HR professional, or simply passionate about positive organizational culture, our summit provides a unique opportunity to network with industry, non-profit, and government leaders, participate in a networking activity, and learn about the latest trends in cultivating a better workplace culture,” said Erica Dreher, summit chairperson.
The summit begins at 8 a.m. with registration and networking, followed by the keynote speaker at 9 a.m. The day ends at 3 p.m. The cost is $60 for alumni and current cohorts of Leadership Allegany, Chautauqua Leadership Network, and Leadership Cattaraugus; and $70 for the general public.

“Engaging employees is crucial for fostering a productive, loyal, and innovative workforce, ultimately leading to greater organizational success and sustainability. By attending the summit, attendees will learn new strategies that will help increase productivity, lower turnover, and enhance morale and job satisfaction,” Mrs. Dreher added.
Since 2014, the leadership organizations have co-sponsored a summer Leadership Summit to bring together emerging leaders from across the region to learn new strategies that will help them become more effective leaders.
