Leadership Cattaraugus alumni are invited to help spruce up the property of an agency that works to assist youth as part of LC’s inaugural “Give Back Day.”
At 5 p.m. Monday, May 15, alumni and current class members are encouraged to meet at the Child Advocacy Center, 772 Main St., Olean, to rake, plant, spread mulch and generally make the center a more inviting place for abused youth who come to the center to tell their story, get treatment, and find healing. The center serves as a place the youth go where police, advocates, caseworkers, counselors and staff seek to help them feel comfortable enough to tell their stories and to begin receiving the help they need.
Sprucing up the property will only help the professionals create the comfortable atmosphere they seek to provide.
“The center provides a valuable service to abused children, and is a vital part of the community,” said Anthony Turano, acting commissioner of Cattaraugus County Social Services and member of the Leadership Cattaraugus Class of 2014.
“Leadership Cattaraugus stresses community connectedness and has alumni serving on more than 200 board of director positions throughout Cattaraugus County,” said Leadership Cattaraugus Board President Jodi Fuller.
“Give Back Day is another way Leadership Cattaraugus encourages community connectedness with the goal of building stronger communities,” she said.
Those interested in helping spruce up the Child Advocacy Center on Give Back Day should rsvp to Mr. Turano at RSVP@leadershipcattaraugus.org and plan to show up at 5 p.m. May 15 at the center.
